I have to say, from initially being slightly 'put off' about this project, to deciding to take part, to choosing which knickers, and then getting so immersed, that i actually want to post something about the choice and the feelings they evoked. What fun I had! Here it is:
Passion Killers and Silky Knickers
A touch of Severity: farming in a male environment in the African bush A touch of Severity: Playing in a male dominated world A touch of Severity: A lack of fertility A touch of Severity: A loss of sexuality and laughter A touch of Severity: being far too hard on myself.
I walk tall, my eyes sparkle and attract flirtation I swing my hips and dont think of my feet I am sexual and feel caressed by a warm breeze I am colourful, fun, vibrant I show a certain frailty and a love of fine things. I love life and ask for more.
Floor was born in Nairobi, Kenya and received her Masters in Geography of Developing Countries at the University of Amsterdam. She has ten years of experience in development and humanitarian relief in East Africa and East Asia. Currently as part of the International
Workshop at Metafora she is taking a pause to explore how her passion for Art can become a central part of her life.
Floor’s early work is focused on painting. They are translations of her personal inner and outer worlds in shape, texture and translucent layers of colour. They are inspired by the places she lives in and form a series of conversations between space and time. At present she is exploring a similar language with sculptural elements.
Floor has exhibited her work in Indonesia and Spain. This is her second group exhibition in Barcelona. Floor’s pieces are in private collections in Australia, Indonesia, Kenya, Netherlands, UK, Thailand, South Africa and USA
